Maintenance of Certification Process
The Maintenance of Certification (MOC) process was officially launched in 2016. This process is crucial for certain Diplomates to maintain their status and credentials within their professional field.
Time-Limited Certificates
Since 2008, all new certificates issued have been time-limited. This means that Diplomates who received their certification after 2008 are required to participate in the MOC process every 8 years. Those who obtained their Diplomate status before 2008 are exempt from this requirement and do not need to undergo recertification.
Recertification Requirements
Diplomates holding time-limited certificates must complete the MOC examination to retain their status. The process involves several critical steps:
- Notification: Diplomates will be contacted via email with comprehensive details on how to proceed with their recertification.
- Continuing Education Attestation: Diplomates must demonstrate their dedication to lifelong learning.
- This is achieved by submitting a signed attestation statement, verifying the completion of 160 continuing education (CE) hours over the past eight years.
- It is important to note that the Board reserves the right to request specific documentation to substantiate these hours if deemed necessary.
- Fee Payment: A fee of $100.00 is required to complete the recertification process.
- Examination: Diplomates must successfully complete a multiple-choice exam to maintain their Diplomate status.
This structured approach ensures that all practicing professionals remain updated with the latest knowledge and skills in their field, continuing to provide high-quality service and care.
