Individuals who are in the process of or are contemplating taking the American Board of Oral Implantology/Implant Dentistry (ABOI/ID) board examination are encouraged to attend this program. Guidelines for case submissions, case selection, and submission will be discussed. Attendees will learn why it is important for case submissions to be in the correct format as well as to provide the information requested by the Board. Topics such as case selection and documentation, photographic guidelines and requirements, as well as proper documentation, will be discussed. The presenters will be past and present board examiners who will provide examples of both good and improper case submissions.
Learning Objectives:
- Learn how to choose and prepare appropriate cases to fit the criteria for Diplomate level cases for the ABOI examination
- Explore how to develop a rationale for proper case selection
- Examine proper photographic and radiographic requirements and guidelines for case submissions

This session will demonstrate the ABOI/ID Part II oral examination experience in a small group setting format. Through this interactive experience, attendees will gain greater insight into what to expect during the ABOI/ID oral examination process in order to improve and prepare candidates for the exam.

- Learn how to develop a strategy for defending cases during the examination
- Discuss implant topics including basic science, clinical diagnosis, implant prosthetics, and implant surgery, gaining insight through a small discussion format with faculty and colleagues

Examination
- To be considered as an examiner you must have been a Diplomate for at least 3 years and in good
standing with the ABOI/ID.
• Examiners will be chosen on a yearly basis with no term specified to service as an examiner. You may be
selected as a proctor for the first year or two. As a proctor you will sit in on several exam sessions before
being paired up with another examiner.
• No examiner shall serve for more than ten (10) years, however in the case of an emergency, it will
be at the discretion of the Part II Examination Chair to appoint an examiner.
• Examiners are not compensated for their service as an examiner to the ABOI/ID. Examiners are
reimbursed for their travel expenses and other reasonable expenses that are outlined in the ABOI/ID
reimbursement policy.
• If selected, you will be required to complete confidentiality agreement, conflict of interest and
disclosure forms provided by the ABOI/ID.
• To continue service as an examiner, you must resubmit an application every three (3) years.

This course is intended to be a comprehensive review of selected subject matter related to the assessment, treatment planning, surgical management, prosthodontic restoration, and maintenance of dental implants. The information in this course may prove helpful in preparing for the incorporation of dental implantology into a clinician's practice activities.
It should be noted that a three day review course is not intended to substitute for in-depth training in the discipline of oral implantology. The content of this program may prove to be helpful as an adjunct in preparation for written and oral examinations where a clinical and theoretical knowledge base in oral implantology is necessary.If you plan on challenging the ABOI Diplomate examination this program will serve as a guide for you to determine what you need to review prior to the examination. This program has a strong emphasis on the oral examination but will also be helpful with the written examination.

Looking for CE hours, attend the 2023 AAID Central District Meeting in Chicago.
Attendees can earn as many as 16 CE hours, awarded per day as follows:
- Friday, June 9 – 8 CE hours
- Saturday, June 10 – 8 CE hours
The link to submit CE will be available on this page beginning the first day of the conference. Attendees should enter the verification code given at the end of each session and take a brief survey to earn their CE credit. The submission site will close on August 11, 2023.

The ABOI/ID has been monitoring the ongoing situation relating to the COVID-19 virus. After careful consideration and discussion, the ABOI/ID Board of directors determined that the health, safety and well-being of all individuals involved in the examination process was the most important factor.
